Bentley purchases Hazardous Waste Bags & Boxes, Vermiculite, Salvage and Overpack Drums, Plastic and Steel Pails, IBC’s, as well as Steel, Plastic and Fiber Drums from Maxi. Bentley provides transportation and disposal services for hazardous and non-hazardous waste generators. Bentley provides their customers with a complete waste stream management program, which includes:

Bentley’s ongoing commitment to their customers starts with assisting them in developing a comprehensive environmental compliance program. This program utilizes waste reduction strategies as well as source reduction programs. One of their main goals is to reduce their customers’ operating costs, exposure to long term liability and litigation. When asked what they thought about working with Maxi, this is what they had to say:

“For Over 30 years Maxi Container’s Staff has demonstrated an extensive knowledge of packaging solutions and the applicable D.O.T. Regulations. Maxi helps generate the best result for our customers and ourselves while limiting exposure to liability and regulatory enforcement.”

Maxi has been delighted to be a part of Bentley’s operating routine for so long because the environmental industry mirrors our core value of promoting a more sustainable future.

“Each customer can represent challenges that require proper packaging solutions that comply with environmental regulations...Maxi’s staff have provided us and our customers with the proper packaging solutions based on applicable regulatory requirements.”

Fun With Drums...Aquaponics?
Aquaponics Tote
275-Gallon Tote turned into a backyard aquaponics system
Aquaponics mixes the cultivation of plants and aquatic animals (fish) in a symbiotic environment. The bacteria created by the fish accumulate in the water and is then used and filtered out by the plants as nutrients. Water is then recirculated back to the fish. The system is a mixture of traditional aquaculture and hydroponics. Aquaponics takes the waste by-product generated from aquaculture and uses it for the nutrient solution for hydroponics. In turn, the hydroponics portion of the system acts as the filtration system to help maintain the water quality for the aquaculture portion. The system literally feeds itself, making it one of the most sustainable forms of organic gardening, and you can make one out of a used Tote too!

For more information about Aquaponics please check out Backyard Fish Farm's Blog.

For more information about containers used for hydroponics or aquaponics gardening systems please contact Joshua at 313-891-3880 or send him an email.

Maxi Works With Charter School...To Build Rocket Heater...
Advanced Tech Students with Joshua Rubin (Creative Director)
Maxi recently worked with Advanced Technology Academy, a charter and certified Michigan green school, in Dearborn. Steve Quinlan contacted Maxi about a new 30-Gallon Drum to be used to build a Rocket Heater. A senior class of students taking Sustainable Energy II is going to build the heater. A rocket heater, otherwise called a rocket stove or rocket mass heater, is a sustainable wood burning alternative to electronic or gas space heaters. In some developing third world countries they are also used to cook food.

Maxi wants to encourage other schools to contact us with any green projects or initiatives. Please contact Joshua at 313-891-3880 or via email.

All Things Green...Macomb County...
Charge Station
Chevy Volt charging up in the parking lot

Last week Macomb County hosted a Green Expo called "All Things Green". Taking time to educate ourselves is important and that was what our own Joshua Rubin (Creative Director) set out to do at this expo. It was a fun filled day with a lot of useful information about Electronic Vehicles, Alternative Energy, Green Education and more. The Chevy Volt was one of the main attractions and we had a chance to catch up with some of our friends from Greening Detroit and MI Clean Energy too!

News Update...Sugar & Spice...
Sugar Sleeping
Sugar
In our November 2010 eNewsletter we introduced you to our very own Maxi kittens Sugar & Spice. By now many of our customers have met the cats (no longer are they just little tiny fuzz balls) and some have even asked why we have not posted more pictures of them in our newsletter. So here they are. It has been six months since they first arrived in our office and we have loved every minute of their company. Our staff loves having these pets in the workplace and would recommend other businesses give it a try. Having them around truly lightens up the mood and makes our office a happier work environment.
