Customer of the Month...Chemical Analytics...
Lab Paks

Chemical Analytics, Inc (CAI) provides lab pack, hazardous waste, universal waste and pharmaceutical waste services as well as gas cylinder recycling. CAI has been offering these high quality personalized services to colleges, laboratories, hospitals, and research and development facilities since 1985. CAI has been purchasing Steel, Plastic, and Fiber Drums, in addition to Plastic and Steel Pails, Hazardous Waste Bags and Boxes, Vermiculite, and Salvage and Overpack Drums from Maxi for twenty years. CAI’s waste management specialists are diversely experienced, trained and safety conscious. CAI has a turnkey operation for waste disposal, which includes:

  • Waste packaging, labeling and marking to DOT and RCRA requirements;
  • Documentation preparation (shippers, manifests, land disposal restriction
    notifications, underlying hazardous constituent notifications, etc.);
  • Transportation to their TSDF utilizing CAI’s permitted hazardous waste hauling vehicles.

CAI services are tailored around their customers' needs, just like us here at Maxi. This is what CAI had to say about us:

“Our experience has been that Maxi Container, Inc. carries the shipping containers that we use most frequently. If we are looking for a container that is not a stock item, Maxi’s customer service staff has been able to locate a suitable shipping container.”

CAI has trucks stationed in Romulus, MI and Cleveland/Akron Ohio, as well North Georgia.  Unlike many of their competitors, they do not sub-contract any of their services.

“Having been a customer of Maxi Container, Inc. for the last 20 years, I have found the sales and customer service staff to be responsive to Chemical Analytics, Inc. needs and concerns.”

-William Sparka
Vice President

Customer Testimonial...Drum Stove...

Drum Stove Kit

Mike Kolanowski recently purchased a 55 gallon steel drum from Maxi and made a wood burning drum stove. Mike thought he would share his experience with us...Thank you Mike!

"I wanted to let you know how well it works...It was 18 degrees and there were 30-40 mph winds and I easily had my 24' x 24' un-insulated garage at 70 degrees."

For more information on our Drum Stove Kits please call Bob at 313-891-3880 or send him an email.

Fun With Drums...Wine Barrel Art...

Chicken Wine Barrel Art
In Port Angeles, WA wine barrels are making their appearance in a fantastic way all over the downtown area. What started as one building owner wanting to expand the painting on her building turned into a movement. The Waterfront Art Gallery volunteers joined forces and soon these wine barrels started popping up everywhere downtown. These previously used wine barrels are donated to the artists by the local wineries Sorenson Cellars, Olympic Cellars, Fair Winds Winery, Harbinger Winery and Camaraderie Cellars.

Hazardous Waste Violations...Drew University...

Drew Univesity School Building

Drew University sits amongst a heavily wooded environment

Drew University, of Madison, N.J was fined $145,000 by the US EPA for not properly managing hazardous waste in 2007. While only 30 miles from Manhattan, Drew is set in a heavily wooded 160 acres. Despite this pristine setting, Drew was caught haphazardly storing dozens of containers of paint, wood stains, enamels and adhesives. They stored these containers in a manner that failed to minimize releases to the environment. The containers were stored outside and on the ground. Some were in close proximity to residential housing and a pond and many containers were open and could have easily spilled their contents or leaked into the ground. The University also failed to properly identify discarded materials such as mercury, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, formic acid, and nitric acid as hazardous wastes.

Drew University could have avoided these problems with one phone call to Maxi Container. We carry a full line of safety cabinets and other safety equipment that are approved for the proper storage of hazardous materials.

You can read the full article here on our blog.
