Lab-Pack Solutions... Vermiculite...
A-Tops Large Grade Vermiculite is the preferred material for use in lab-packaging hazardous and industrial waste. It is a light-weight, inorganic absorbent with excellent liquid retention and cushioning capabilities. Its larger granule size minimizes the dusting evident with smaller grades of vermiculite. A-Tops Vermiculite is asbestos free and insoluble in organic solvents.

IBC Staking Labels... Regulatory Change...
Starting on January 1, 2011 DOT will require every company that manufacturers, repairs or remanufactures an intermediate bulk container (IBC) used for hazardous material transportation to mark each unit with one of the two symbols shown below.

Most IBC producers plan to apply the symbol in the form of a pre-printed label. The label must be displayed in a durable and visible manner, and must be not less than 100 mm (3.9 inches) by 100 mm (3.9 inches) in size.

Customer of the Month...Zander Colloids...
Zander Colloids is a developer and manufacturer of specialty fluids, polymers, emulsions and dispersions. Zander utilizes custom-built process equipment and therefore can produce improved emulsion and colloidal dispersions. Zander has been operating for seven years. They have been a loyal customer of Maxi for four years, purchasing Steel, Plastic, and Fiber Drums, IBC’s and they have also been a part of our Drum and Tote Recycling Program.
Currently, Zander offers a number of high performance silicone emulsions. These Emulsions are used in a wide range of industrial and consumer products such as, release agents for rubber and plastic, hot metal lubricants and more.

City Year Detroit...Recycling Kick Off...

December 7th, Maxi returned to Osborn High School to follow up on the Fiber Drums we donated as Recycling Containers. The students, who are going to be using the bins were first asked about recycling and if they do or do not currently recycle. How often they recycle and what they generally think about recycling. Kiana and Deborah of City Year led the presentation and ended with a video called The Story of Bottled Water (2010). Next the students split into groups and began decorating the bins. The students were excited by the project and thanked Maxi for donating the fiber drums. Maxi was glad to help City Year Detroit and Osborn High School and their Recycling Initiative.
